Seeing as there’s little-to-slim-to-no chance of Nintendo’s masterful Zelda series turning up on Apple’s iOS platform, Gameloft has ridden in like the proverbial white knight and taken it upon itself to fill the RPG void.
And in perfect synchronicity, the famed French publisher - responsible for the highly Qi rated Modern Combat 2: Black Pegasus AND Spider-Man: Total Mayhem - has debuted an innovative pricing model for its first dip into the epic adventure waters.
In a twist on the traditional iPhone freemium structure (evident in Pocket Frogs among many others), Sacred Odyssey: Rise of Ayden is indeed a free downloadable title, yet that only ‘buys’ you six minutes of exploration time.
Once that period has expired, you can either kiss goodnight to the kingdom of Lasgalen or insert 399 1p coins via in-app purchases to continue.
Should you plump for the second option, you’ll be rewarded with much galloping through plains, tons of battling with creatures, and plenty of fending off warlords.
Slide to Play was swept along by Sacred Odyssey’s enchanting gameplay, commenting that “the combination of a quality story, good combat, tough puzzles, and amazing production values make Sacred Odyssey: Rise of Ayden well worth your time and money.”
'Time and money', eh? More complicated than ever, Qi feels.
Install the ambitious Sacred Odyssey: Rise of Ayden on you iPhone now for the royal sum of nothing. Then check your stopwatch.
