Gamevil's eccentric sports franchise Baseball Superstars is officially a big hitter on mobile devices everywhere, having just topped 40 million downloads worldwide.
In the announcement, which came as America, the home of baseball, was celebrating Independence Day, it was revealed that games from the series were downloaded 10 million times during November 2011 and May 2012 alone.
The franchise took its first swing at iOS success when it stepped onto the App Store back in 2008, generating 7 million downloads within two months of its launch.
Since then, the world has fallen in love with Baseball Superstar's wacky portrayal of the popular sport, with Android fans doing their part to help knock download projections out of the park.
"We've come a long way - from the initial Baseball franchise game created in 2002 to the most current, Baseball Superstars 2012 - with each new game improving upon its predecessors," Gamevil's blog reads.
You can download Baseball Superstars 2012 from the App Store for free now.
