21-year-old Mega Jump player soars into the Guinness World Records
Beats off competition from 200,000 rivals
In collaboration with US ad network Kiip, Get Set Games ran a competition between September 28th and October 3rd to determine the planet’s finest Mega Jump player.
The winner would not only gain the respect of, and kudos from, of the entire iPhone gaming community, but would also receive an official certificate from Guinness World Records.
As it transpired, 21-year-old Swiss gamer Philipp Schneckenburger posted the highest Mega Jump score in that allotted time, accumulating a magnificent 6,133,889 points.
Schneckenburger outstripped his 200,000-odd Mega Jump rivals, stating that: "First, I played just for fun. It turned into playing for four hours straight to make sure I could qualify for a chance to break the record."
"It's funny because I normally don’t play video or mobile games. Now, all my colleagues call me a world record holder."
Schneckenburger’s name will now appear in the 2012 Gamer’s Edition of the Guinness Book of World Records, a series with which iPhone manufacturer Apple itself is particularly familiar.
