You play as Ann, a princess of Scarbelhold, who after having her family's castle invaded by a group of evil villains must flee her life of pampered luxury. Rather predictably, she decides to fight back and sets off on a quest to regain her kingdom.
For those who fear a turn-based slog of an RPG, though, have no fear: the gameplay in Queen's Crown is of the action variety, with strong similarities to the SNES classic Secret of Mana.
Having four different weapons and six magic skills to choose from help vary up the combat, and a gem-based levelling up system allows you to strengthen your armoury. Game Center and Facebook compatibility are also included as part of the package.
iPhone dedicated website No DPad handed the game a perfect 10/10 score, saying that it “is one of the year’s best surprises, one of the year’s best role-playing games, and one of the best Action RPGs yet released for iPhone.”
If you think you're up to the challenge of saving the Scarbelhold Kingdom, Queen’s Crown is available on the App Store now for £2.99 / $4.99 / €3.99.
