iQi Weekly Round-Up
This week's top stories...
4th February 2012
Worms Crazy Golf, the strategic sporting spin-off from Team17, is currently available at the discounted price of 69p / 99c. This explosive take on the most sedate of sports was released last October, earning such high praise from reviewers that it gained a spot on Qi’s Top 10 iPhone games of the month. The latest iPhone instalment in the venerable Worms franchise sees the homicidal invertebrates put down their rocket launchers and pick up their putters.
Gameloft's well-received and highly lucrative fantasy RPG Order & Chaos Online has received a major update, which includes new quests, improved visuals, and online optimisations. The new quests have been added to make levelling-up a little easier in the Swamp of Wyrms and the Whispering Islands. iPhone 4S owners will also notice some visual improvements once they log in to Order & Chaos Online.
Sky Go, the iPhone application which allows Sky subscribers in the UK to watch Sky channels live over 3G or wi-fi, now includes the Sky Atlantic channel. Sky Atlantic features many big-name US TV exports, including Boardwalk Empire, Game of Thrones, Entourage, and The Wire. If you subscribe to Sky Movies, too, by the way, you can watch live movie channels or pick from a range of on-demand films via the Sky Go app.
If you don't already know, Qi trawls the print and online media for game and app reviews from respected sources like Macworld, TiPb, 148Apps, and GameSpot. A unique Qi formula is then applied to each site and publication to establish a definitive Qi score for the app or game. Top 5 recommendation lists, news round-ups, and regular industry analysis complement the dynamic Qi charts. Qi has its own Twitter feed, too, @qualityindex.
Notable changes to the Quality Index charts
Dead on arrival this week at the #9 spot on the Qi chart is post-mortem point-and-click iPhone puzzler Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective.
This truly unique take on the genre puts you in the recently deceased shoes of Sissel, who has to solve his own murder by preventing the deaths of other unfortunate souls.
You have four minutes to determine how each victim was dispatched, and you endeavour to alter his / her terminal fate by using your ghostly abilities to stop the murder from taking place.
On reviewing Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective, Pocket Gamer stated: "If you missed this peerless cult classic on DS, do not let it pass you by again."
Screeching past 9th position and motoring into 2nd place is top-down tyre-squealer Reckless Racing 2 for the iPhone.
A pocket racer with pedigree, this perfectly mixed cocktail of speed and burnt rubber has quickly overtaken the competition to become one of the highest-rated driving games on iOS.
With 18 cars and 24 routes to choose from, oodles of tuning options to select from, and online multiplayer to occupy you, Reckless Racing 2 will have you tearing up the track till your thumbs beg for mercy.
