Angry Birds Rio under pressure from Mensa brainiacs

Angry Birds Rio isn’t merely a continuation of the most lucrative and recognised franchise in mobile video game history, it’s a sign.

“A harbinger of what?", Qi hears you ask sagely.

Well, for one, the Brazil-based exploits of these impromptu flying missionaries demonstrate that setting is incidental to gameplay when it comes to monster hits.

Oh, and that iPhone gaming has reached a tipping point. When movie studios, TV companies, and record labels start lining up to associate their projects / artists with your software (think Doodle Jump, too), you know you’re onto a winner.

Now whilst that concept isn’t particularly difficult to grasp, the clever dicks over at Mensa International have seen fit to challenge your grey matter rather more assiduously with Mensa Brain Test.

For the 10 percent of the population who aren’t familiar with the organisation for people with IQs in the top two percent - so, what percentage is left, eh?? - Mensa has three purposes:

“To identify and to foster human intelligence for the benefit of humanity; to encourage research into the nature, characteristics, and uses of intelligence; and to provide a stimulating intellectual and social environment for its members.”

And if you fancy joining Mensa’s not-so-secret society (as thousands do, judging by the UK paid-for apps chart this morning), you’ll have to pass an entrance exam. Hence, Barnstorm Games has published what can arguably be described as a series of mock tests to facilitate entry.

Training of a different kind has also put the cat amongst the pigeons / macaws / Tiny Wings over the past seven days on the Top 10, as Full Fitness stretches, bends, and lifts to download perfection.

Health Xperts’s exercise builder and progress monitor won’t have it all its own way on Apple’s digital marketplace, mind, since the competition from Qi’s Top 5 apps for fitness enthusiasts, for instance, is fierce.

Can the muscular frame of Full Fitness go beyond its personal best and grab that #1 position, or will Mensa Brain Test outfox and outthink those aggrieved avians at the summit?

Tune in next Friday to find out.
