Rather than forming falling blocks into solid lines, here you're chipping out the same shapes from a descending mass of blocks. It's a subtle shift, but - combined with some dreamy graphics and blissful music - it's an effective one.

	With Puzzlejuice, Colaboratory takes the Tetris formula and then stretches it to incorporate a compelling word search element. Now when you form lines, they turn into a random jumble of letters. Only by forming words out of these can you get rid of the blocks once and for all.

	Slydris Radiangames
	Radiangames brilliantly re-engineers the Tetris experience for touchscreen devices in Slydris. Here, the blocks are already settled loosely on the screen, and it's up to you to physically slide them from side to side in order to drop the blocks above into place and form lines. Very clever, indeed.

	What can be more Tetris-inspired than a modern version of Tetris itself? Nothing, that's what. Tetris for iPhone has all the original's classic block dropping gameplay, but with added modes and online scoreboards.
